We only PAT test, what needs PAT testing, when it needs PAT testing.

The subject of Portable Appliance Testing (or PAT Testing, but more properly known as In-service testing of Electrical Equipment) is one of the most misunderstood areas of electrical work and is sadly, often carried out incorrectly year after year at high cost to the customer and potentially risking user safety.

We have also found, that many electrical testing companies suggest to clients that PAT testing is like an M.O.T. in that all of your electrical equipment must be tested every year. This is simply, not the case. In reality the frequency of testing electrical equipment is based on a risk assessment.

We base our inspections on guidance from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) For example, in low risk environments such as offices, some equipment will not need testing at all, just a simple visual inspection that you can undertake. We will be happy to show you how to do this, and we also give you full instructions in our PAT reports.
